American Black Walnut is a unique North American hardwood in that it has a deep brown heartwood. It is truly a pleasure to work with very agreeable grain, medium hardness, and good availability in width and length. The Walnut tree is not as hearty as some other North American species and as such will be more prone to "defects". However, these defects truly make each board unique and naturally beautiful.
